Twitter Users in France Can Now Transfer Money
Published at | Updated at(PARIS) — Twitter users in France will now be able to “tweet money” to their followers through person-to-person transfers.
French banking company Groupe BPCE is set to launch a payment program this month to send funds via the social networking site.
Anyone with a bank account and Twitter handle in the country is eligible for the service, according to the company.
The head of Twitter France says the platform is well suited for payments due to its “live, public, conversational dimension.”
Groupe BPCE’s electronic money subsidiary, S-money, will provide the e-wallet service on mobile phones.
“This initiative is a good example of our innovation strategy regarding payments…This S-Money initiative opens up a whole new range of payment possibilities on the social networks,” Jean-Yves Forel, Groupe BPCE Chief Executive Officer said in a statement.
