Final Poppy Placed on Tower of London WWI Memorial
Published at(LONDON) — The moat surrounding the Tower of London has been filled with ceremonial poppies as part of Britain’s Veterans Day remembrance display.
The installation of ceramic flowers by artist Paul Cummins and theater stage designer Tom Piper, called “Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red,” was timed to coincide with Armistice Day on Tuesday. The last of the 888,246 poppies were placed the same day.
The number marks an estimate of the British and Colonial military fatalities from World War I.
