Construction begins Monday on I-15 projects south of Pocatello

POCATELLO — The next set of Interstate 15 maintenance projects is scheduled to begin Monday.
The Idaho Transportation Department reports a 30-mile stretch between Pocatello and Arimo will be upgraded and repaired over several months this summer.
Specifically, ITD will resurface 7 miles of I-15 between Arimo and McCammon. Bridges will be repaired at the South Inkom Interchange and Rapid Creek Bridge in Inkom. The guardrail will also be replaced on both sides of I-15 between Pocatello and Inkom.
During the construction period I-15 will be reduced to one lane in in both directions
“We are asking all travelers to pay careful attention to signage and changing traffic patterns,” ITD Engineering Manager Dan Harelson said in a news release. “Lane closures may change from day to day. Please slow down and plan extra time to travel through the various work zones.”

Initial construction in June will include building “crossover” lanes for motorists to use during the paving and bridge repairs, according to a news release.
A resurfacing project on 8 mile of I-15 between Lava Beds to Bonneville County line is still underway and is expected to be completed by later this month. Several lane restrictions are in place in the region.
ITD plans to invest $95 million in bridge repairs and pavement improvements on I-15 in 2017 and 2018. Construction on various parts of I-15 is expected to continue for the next several years.
