Authorities identify man found dead in lake near Yellowstone
Published at | Updated atBOZEMAN, Montana — A California man who drowned in Hebgen Lake, Montana last week has been identified by authorities.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports 67-year-old Jeffrey Barr, of Burbank, California, drowned after he entered the lake in an apparent attempt to retrieve a pontoon boat that had blown away.
Searchers began looking for the man Thursday after receiving a report of a vehicle parked in a day-use area. Investigators found the pontoon boat beached nearby and Barr’s body was discovered Friday about 300 feet from the shore near his campsite.
