Possible VP Pick Rob Portman Visits Mitt Romney Turf
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, is on a fundraising, Mitt Romney-advocating roll with events taking the rumored vice presidential contender suspiciously close to the presumptive Republican nominee and his team over the weekend and into next week.
Portman has not appeared with Romney since his swing-state bus tour last month. However, Portman’s two events Saturday in Concord, N.H., on behalf of Romney put him just a 45-minute drive from Wolfesboro, where Romney and his family have been vacationing all week at their lakeside compound.
ABC News has also learned that Portman will host a $1,000-a-head fundraiser for Romney Monday night in Boston, not far from Romney for President headquarters.
Could an in-person meeting between Portman and Romney or Romney’s vetting team be in the cards? Neither Romney nor Portman’s camp would comment.
