Parasites Killing Whitefish
Published at
(IDAHO FALLS) – Wildlife biologists say a parasite is to blame for the deaths of thousands of mountain whitefish in the Snake River and other regional waterways. The parasite in question is often associated with warm water and hasn’t shown up in other fish species. Officials say anglers can still safely consume whitefish as long as they’re cooked properly. Those who find any dead whitefish are encouraged to call Fish and Game officials at 525-7290.
