Fires knocked down along Highway 20

Firefighters had two brush fires along U.S. Highway 20 in Idaho Falls knocked down in less than an hour.
The two fires broke out around 3:20 p.m., the first just past the North Holmes Avenue highway onramp and the second along Haroldson Drive. With both fires about a quarter-mile apart, crews could fight both fires and knocked the first one down just before 4 p.m. with the second minutes later.
Haroldson Drive and the Highway onramp were blocked for about 30 minutes until firefighters could get control of the blaze.
Crews were still on scene as of 4:20 p.m. mopping up the hotspots.
It is not clear as to what caused the fire.
Firefighters urge people to be cautious as high temperatures and low humidity have made fires spread quickly.

IDAHO FALLS — Firefighters are battling two fires near U.S. Highway 20 and North Holmes Avenue.
Multiple engines and water tankers have been fighting the blazes that broke out around 3:20 p.m. They are currently burning near Haroldson Drive.
Drivers are asked to avoid Highway 20 near Holmes Avenue.
