Earnhardt Jr. Medically Cleared To Return To NASCAR
Published at(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. was medically cleared to return to the track on Tuesday, after suffering a pair of concussions.
Earnhardt suffered the first concussion in a crash during a tire test at Kansas on Aug. 29. His second concussion came on the last lap at Talladega on Oct. 7.
Dr. Jerry Petty, who works with NASCAR, gave Earnhardt the green light after watching him run 123 laps at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga., on Monday.
After missing races at Charlotte and Kansas, the 38-year-old Earnhardt will be back in the driver’s seat starting this weekend at Martinsville.
