Mormon Feminists Advocate Wearing Pants to Church
Published at(IDAHO FALLS) – Mormon feminists and their supporters are challenging a minor taboo this Sunday.
A group consisting largely of American women from the intermountain West says they’re going to wear pants to church as a way to promote gender equality. The group is also encouraging people to wear purple, a symbol for the suffrage movement.
LDS Church officials released a statement Wednesday saying they encourage members and visitors to wear their best clothing as a sign of respect and reverence, but don’t counsel people beyond that.
