REXBURG — No injuries were reported after a car and school bus collided on West Idaho Highway 33 in Madison County on Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 4000 West and the highway, according to a resident who notified EastIdahoNews.com.

The Madison County Fire Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.

“The speed limit along that stretch of road is still pretty high,” Sgt. John Virgin of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.

A school bus was making the turn onto Idaho Highway 33 from 4000 West. It pulled in front of a car, which was unable to stop in time and struck the bus, he said.

The bus had four people aboard, including the driver. The driver and passengers were unhurt, Virgin said.

The female driver of the car was uninjured, as well. The police did not release her name.

The speed limit where the accident happened is 65 mph; however, it isn’t unusual to encounter vehicles going even faster. Neither road was closed due to the crash, Virgin said, but traffic was down to one lane while responders waited for both vehicles to be towed.
