Cardinals Sweep Nationals, 4-2
Published at(WASHINGTON) — The Redbirds are flying high in the National League.
The St. Louis Cardinals doubled up the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, 4-2, to sweep the three-game series.
The Cards got to Nats starter Stephen Strasburg in the first inning, knocking in three runs, including a two-run single by catcher Yadier Molina. They would add another run in the eighth inning, as they improved to 13-8 on the season.
St. Louis starter Jamie Garcia gave up one run on four hits over 5 2-3 innings of work, while Edward Mujica pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save of the year.
The Nationals drop to 10-11 on the season.
