Orioles Rally Past Tigers, 4-2
Published at(BALTIMORE) — Orioles rookie pitcher Kevin Gausman (1-2) allowed one run in his six innings of work on Sunday to help the Orioles beat the Tigers 4-2.
The Orioles rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead on Detroit. Nate McClouth capped the rally off with an RBI single. Chris Davis hit his major-league leading 20th homer of the season in the same inning.
Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera was held in check, going 1-4 on the day. Rick Porcello (2-3) suffered the loss after giving up the three runs in the seventh.
“It’s obviously huge to win the series at home, especially against those guys with that pitching staff and that lineup,” Davis said.
Jim Johnson recorded the final three outs in the top of the ninth to pick up his 18th save of the season.
