Remains Transferred to Sho-Ban Tribes
Published at(FORT HALL, ID) – The skeletal remains of an American Indian found in Caribou County have been turned over to the Shoshone-Bannock tribes. Authorities say the remains were discovered Sunday afternoon by a group that was scouting for an upcoming moose hunt. Sheriff’s deputies determined that the remains were preserved as a ceremonial relic, and were not connected to any unresolved crimes in the area. Tribal officials say it remains a “culturally sensitive issue,” which will be further examined by archaeological experts.
