(21) Notre Dame Defeats Purdue, 31-24
Published at(WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.) — Junior wide receiver DaVaris Daniels scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as No. 21 Notre Dame (2-1) defeated Purdue (1-2) Saturday night, 31-24.
Trailing 17-10 early in the fourth, Fighting Irish senior quarterback Tommy Rees found Daniels for a nine-yard touchdown. The pair would connect again with 12:30 left in the game on an 82-yard score. Senior cornerback Bennett Jackson would give Notre Dame a 14 point lead three plays later, with a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Daniels finished the game with eight receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns while Rees was 20 of 33 for 309 yards and two scores.
