Melo Says He Took Risk by Not Getting Shoulder Surgery
Published at(NEW YORK) — If the New York Knicks hope to contend in the Eastern Conference, they’ll need a healthy and productive Carmelo Anthony. He admits that he get took a risk by not undergoing shoulder surgery during the offseason.
Instead of opting for surgery, Anthony decided to focus on rehab to repair a tear in his left shoulder. While it way a risky move, Anthony is pleased with the results and is happy with his decision.
“I’m ecstatic going from a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum to not needing surgery,” Anthony said. “Let me take that back: taking a risk in not taking surgery and letting it heal on its own. I took a huge risk in doing that. It meant I had to put more time in the offseason to do what I had to do to get it right.”
Last season, Anthony led the Knicks to a 54-28 record in the regular season, which was their most succesful season since the 1996-1997 season.
In 67 games played last season, Anthony led the NBA with 28.7 points per game.
