Islanders Sign Defenseman Radek Martinek
Published at(NEW YORK) — The New York Islanders signed defenseman Radek Martinek to a one-year deal Wednesday that is worth $600,000 according to ESPNNewYork.com.
The 37-year-old Martinek originally was drafted by the Islanders in the eighth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He has played 466 of his 473 career NHL games with the Islanders — the other seven were with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2011-12 season.
Martinek was signed after defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky was placed on injured reserve with a concussion.
In 11 NHL seasons, Martinek has scored 25 goals and dished out 82 assists.
