ASHTON — Valentine’s Day weekend will bring live classical music to downtown Ashton as Warm River Studio hosts a pair of special concerts with themes of love, connection and friendship.

Violinist Richard Ferguson, a familiar presence on the Warm River Studio stage, will return with an ensemble performance, “Refractions of Love,” Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14, at the studio’s Main Street location.

Ferguson performs with both the Idaho Falls and Bozeman symphonies and has appeared at the Ashton venue multiple times.

“If you were here for Richard’s last two concerts, you know you’re in for a treat,” said Warm River Studio founder and owner Ellen Lynch. “This time, his ensemble leads us on a musical exploration of love in its many facets — from romantic and tender, to familial and steadfast, to playful and deeply rooted in friendship.”

The program features a mix of classical selections, film music and familiar tunes, including Bach’s Double Violin Concerto (second movement), Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, and Ashokan Farewell from Ken Burns’ The Civil War documentary.

Ferguson will be joined by violinist Natalie Blackburn and pianist Allison Anderson.

Friday’s performance begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday’s concert starts at 3 p.m. Doors open 45 minutes before each show, with complimentary refreshments and homemade baked goods available for attendees.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, if available. All proceeds go directly to the musicians. Tickets and additional information are available at WarmRiverStudio.com.

Lynch said the Valentine’s concerts are part of a growing slate of live music and arts programming planned for the year at the studio.

“We have a packed calendar with more to come,” she said.
