Rigby man dies after being hit by wrong-way driver on I15

IDAHO FALLS — A 39-year-old man died Thursday morning after being hit by a wrong-way driver on the interstate.
According to a news release from the Idaho State Police, troopers responded to a fatal crash around 4:05 a.m. on Interstate 15 near mile marker 118 in Idaho Falls.
A 2026 Chevy Traverse, driven by a 65-year-old man from Rigby, was reportedly driving the wrong way on the interstate, going northbound in the southbound lanes.
A 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, driven by a 39-year-old man from Rigby, was driving south in the southbound lanes.
The Traverse then collided head-on with the minivan. The driver of the Chrysler minivan succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. His name has not yet been released. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt.
The southbound lanes were blocked for approximately five hours.
Idaho State Police was assisted by Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Bonneville County Fire District, Idaho Falls Fire Department, Idaho Falls Police Department, and Idaho Transportation Department.

IDAHO FALLS — One person is dead following an early morning crash near Idaho Falls on Thursday.
The fatal crash occurred near exit 118 on southbound Interstate 15, according to an Idaho Falls Police Department Facebook post.
Witnesses say the crash happened around 5:30 a.m.
All southbound traffic on I-15 is being diverted onto Broadway Street. Both on-ramps from Broadway Street to southbound I-15 are closed.
Police ask that drivers please avoid the area and expect delays.
Idaho State Police is investigating the incident.
