CHUBBUCK — What appeared to be a potentially dangerous situation outside Tres Hermanos on Friday afternoon turned out to be a disturbance involving a paintball gun.

Officers were called to the area around 2:30 p.m. after reports of two men wearing hoodies involved in a disturbance. Initial information indicated that one, or possibly both, individuals may have had a firearm.

The situation was unfolding at the same time as a separate shooting reported near Batiste and Tank Farm Road in rural Bannock County.

Multiple officers responded to the scene, with some arriving with guns drawn, according to witnesses.

Nick Sasser, chief of the Chubbuck Police Department, confirmed to EastIdahoNews.com that the call came in as a “gun call.”

“It was just a disturbance and the gun ended up being a paintball gun,” Sasser said.

Witnesses said the situation was quickly brought under control, and the two men involved were detained and handcuffed.
