Several New Films Coming to Theaters on Christmas Day
Published at(NEW YORK) — What’s there to do after you’re finished unwrapping presents on Christmas morning? You can check out one of the many new films hitting theaters that day.
Here’s a closer look:
— The Secret Life of Walter Mitty: Ben Stiller directed the comedy and stars as the titular character, an employee at Life magazine who lives in a world of fantasies. Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt, Shirley MacLaine and Sean Penn also star in the remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye film. Rated PG.
— The Wolf of Wall Street: In Martin Scorsese’s fifth collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio, the actor plays a young, wild and corrupt founder of a brokerage firm. Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Jean Dujardin and Jon Bernthal also star in the film, which is based on a true story. Rated R. [Click here to read a review]
— Grudge Match: This comedy could have been called “Rocky vs. Raging Bull.” Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro play two aging boxers who come out of retirement to face off in a third match to settle their rivalry. Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Jon Bernthal also star. Rated PG-13.
— 47 Ronin: Keanu Reeves is the leader of 47 master-less samurai collectively known as Ronin. The film is screening in 3D. Rated PG-13.
— Justin Bieber’s Believe: The second of Justin Bieber’s concert documentaries mixes performance footage with a behind-the-scenes look at the pop star’s personal struggles. The film is screening in 3D. Rated PG.
And expanding into wide release:
— Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom: Idris Elba portrays the late South African president in this biopic. Naomie Harris also stars. Rated PG-13.
