“Sopranos” Actor Leaves Prison
Published at(NEW YORK) — Actor Lillo Brancato, who appeared on The Sopranos and in the 1993 film A Bronx Tale, is a free man Tuesday after spending eight years behind bars in New York.
Brancato was serving time after being convicted of felony attempted burglary in a break-in that led to the murder of an off-duty police officer.
The New York Post reports Bracato was set for release in July, but after making a deal with the parole board, the actor’s release was bumped up after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence. He’ll now serve five years’ parole at home with a 10 p.m. curfew.
In 2005, Brancato and associate Steven Armento broke into a friend’s house looking for drugs when off-duty cop Daniel Enchautegui confronted them. Armento shot the officer in the chest. The cop returned fire, wounding both men, before dying from his own wounds. Armento was sentenced to life.
