Taliban Allegedly Use 8-Year-Old as Suicide Bomber
Published at(LONDON) — The Taliban may have stooped to a new low.
The BBC quotes officials in southern Afghanistan as claiming that an 8-year-old girl was detained Sunday after being caught wearing a suicide vest.
According to reports, the girl was to have detonated the explosives in an attack on border police in Helmand province.
What’s more, the child is believed to be the little sister of a prominent Taliban commander, who allegedly urged her to carry out the suicide bombing.
It wasn’t clear what led police to detain the girl or if she had problems trying to set off the explosives strapped to her body.
She has since been brought to the provincial capital of Lashkar Gah for more questioning.
