League of Women Voters announces two Pocatello candidate forums

POCATELLO — With Idaho’s November general election approaching, Pocatello-area voters will have at least two opportunities to hear directly from candidates seeking state and county offices.
The League of Women Voters of Pocatello will host two Meet the Candidates forums at the Pocatello City Council Chambers, 911 North 7th Avenue. The Pocatello Mayor’s Office also sponsors the forums.
The first forum will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. and will feature candidates running in contested races in Legislative District 28.
A second forum is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. and will feature candidates in contested Legislative District 29 races, as well as candidates for Bannock County coroner.
During the forums, candidates will discuss issues and answer both prewritten questions and questions submitted by members of the audience.
The events come as Idaho voters prepare for the Nov. 3 general election. In addition to state legislative and county races, Idahoans will cast ballots in federal and statewide contests and decide ballot measures. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters may also have early voting options beginning Oct. 13, depending on the county.
The League of Women Voters said the forums are meant to give voters a chance to learn more about candidates and their positions before casting their ballots.
Those unable to attend in person can watch the forums live on Pocatello Community Media’s YouTube channel. Recordings will also be available following the events through the League of Women Voters of Idaho website.
The deadline to preregister to vote in the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 23. Idaho also allows qualified voters to register at their polling place on Election Day.
