A giant yard sale where everything is free: Community Blessings Day returns to Blackfoot.

BLACKFOOT — Blackfoot’s Community Blessings Day is returning Oct. 10, but organizers are moving the event to a larger location this year after outgrowing their previous space.
The everything-free event will be held from 7 a.m. to noon at Blackfoot Charter School, 92 North 415 West. Previous Community Blessings Days have been held at a church in Moreland, but Bless Blackfoot President Melissa Helton said the organization has outgrown both the building and parking lot.

“We have so much stuff,” Helton said. “This is a giant yard sale where everything is free.”
Bless Blackfoot provides free clothing, baby items, toys, household goods and other necessities to anyone who needs them. There are no applications or eligibility requirements.
The nonprofit was founded by Helton, Christa Allmon and Amber Heer after the three friends attended a local sustainability swap several years ago and saw an opportunity to connect donated items with people who could use them.
The founders are quick to credit the many volunteers who work year-round organizing donations and helping make each event possible.
Since then, Community Blessings Days have grown, along with the amount of merchandise donated by area residents.
“We have been overwhelmed with how much stuff we’ve had donated,” Helton said.
That growth has also created a challenge. Bless Blackfoot is looking for a permanent location to store donations and host future events. Anyone with a space available, or who can help the organization find one, is encouraged to call (208) 604-0255 or email blessblackfoot@gmail.com.
Bless Blackfoot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and also accepts monetary donations. More information is available at blessblackfoot.org
