IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls residents may recognize some familiar streets and perhaps some familiar faces on national television beginning this week.
The Idaho Falls Police Department will make its debut on the television documentary series “On Patrol: Live” on Friday, Oct. 9, giving viewers a firsthand look at officers responding to calls and patrolling the city.
The popular REELZ series follows law enforcement officers from departments across the country, with camera crews riding alongside them as their shifts unfold.
Idaho Falls Police Chief Bryce Johnson said the department is looking forward to giving people a closer look at what local officers encounter on the job.
“We are proud of the work our officers do in Idaho Falls,” Johnson said. “Appearing on ‘On Patrol: Live’ gives our community the opportunity to ride along with us every weekend and to see what your officers are doing and experiencing right here in Idaho Falls.”
On Patrol: Live airs Friday and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mountain Time. REELZ is available through several television and streaming providers, including Peacock, DirecTV, and DISH.

The series is hosted and executive produced by Dan Abrams, who, along with a panel of law enforcement experts, provides analysis and commentary throughout the program as it moves between participating agencies across the country.

The Idaho Falls Police Department serves a community of more than 70,000 residents and employs 105 sworn police officers. The department responds to roughly 50,000 calls for service each year.
On Patrol: Live features a rotating lineup of police departments and sheriff’s offices from around the United States. The program follows officers on patrol and shows everything from routine traffic stops to more serious incidents and investigations.
Johnson said the department is also excited to help share “the real stories of policing across the country.”
The show is produced by Half Moon Pictures for REELZ and debuted in 2022.
