Janae Perry

February 24th, 1945 - March 15th, 2024

Janae Cook Perry, 79, formerly of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Chardonnay Assisted Living in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was under the care of Heritage Hospice.

She was born on February 24, 1945, in Rigby, Idaho, to Carl James Cook and Zelda Irene Hix. She grew up in Coltman, Idaho, and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1963. She attended Ricks College, earning a certificate in Business Machines.

On May 26, 1966, she married Clinton Vern Perry, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They later divorced in 2010, and he passed away on March 21, 2021.

Starting with three milk cows, they soon moved to Franklin, Idaho, working for a larger dairy while growing their own herd. They bought their first home and rented a dairy in Cove, Utah. They eventually purchased a dairy of their own in Buhl, Idaho, and lived there until selling and moving to Jerome, then on to King Hill, Idaho.

Janae lived in King Hill, Hammett, and Glenns Ferry for thirty-two years before going to live with her son Lance’s family in Oregon, and then back to Twin Falls before passing away.

She always worked hard to help support her family, including on the farm, in local potato harvesting, as a school cook, city librarian, trainer at Micron Technologies, and cooking for the local senior citizen’s center. She used her early career as a secretary to benefit the farm, keeping records in top shape, and handling the books.

Janae was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various roles including librarian, pianist, organist, Cub Scout Leader, and in Relief Society and Primary Presidencies. She also generously volunteered her time and talents in her local community, volunteering at the local thrift store and community events.

She loved to sew and quilt, preserve foods, and play the piano – talents she shared with her children and through her church callings over the years. Janae always grew a large garden, giving away more than she kept for herself.

Janae was a resounding example of kindness and service to others. She endured her trials well, made the best of the hardest times, and kept her sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters: Carla Anderson of Jerome, Idaho, Yvonne (Mark) Tarpenning of Boardman, Oregon, and Janalee (Brandon) Fowler of Salmon, Idaho; sons: John (Jaunee) Perry of Houston, Texas, Lance (Janeene) Perry of Dayton, Oregon, and Nolan (Liisa) Perry of Walnut Creek, California; brothers: Rick Cook of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Rulan (Kathy) Cook of Grant, Idaho; sister, Loralee (Don) Center of Denver, Colorado; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl James and Zelda Irene Cook; her ex-husband, Clinton Perry; daughter, Paula Perry; sister, Sheryl Eda Cook; and grandchildren: Courtney Perry and Michael Radabaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Grant LDS church, 3431 East 100 North, Rigby, Idaho. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow in the Grant-Central Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortuary.com.

The family will also hold a brief graveside ceremony after Janae’s service to inter Clinton’s ashes. Family and friends are welcome to participate.
