Global Warming Could Hurt Trout Population

(IDAHO FALLS) – Eastern Idaho’s pristine trout fishing could be in danger. Biologists with the U.S. Forest Service say climate change could reduce cutthroat habitat by 58 percent over the next 70 years. The scientists believe warmer winters could cause bigger floods that wash out gravel – the spawning beds where trout lay their eggs. Changing flows could also mean more rainbow trout instead of native fish. Current trout populations do not yet show impacts.
