Malkin Wins Hart Trophy
A.J. Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin won the Hart Trophy Wednesday night at the NHL awards show in Las Vegas.
The Hart trophy is given by the Professional Hockey Writers Associationis to the most valuable player in the league.
In 75 games, the 26-year-old Malkin produced 50 goals and 59 assists. He beat out New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos.
Malkin has been nominated for the trophy two previous times, but this is the first time he has won.
