(LOS ANGELES) -- Mike Conley couldn't convert on his last second drive to the hoop, giving the Los Angeles Lakers a 86-84 win over the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night.
The win keeps the Lakers (40-36) a half-game up on the Utah Jazz (40-37) for the final spot in Western Conference playoffs.
The Lakers played without point guard Steve Nash, who missed his second straight game with a hamstring injury. Los Angeles turned the ball over 18 times.
Kobe Bryant scored 24 points and added nine assists in the win.
"Our defense was extremely solid," Bryant said when asked if the Lakers were lucky to win with 18 turnovers." It's no accident that we were able to win this game."
The Lakers, which have won four of their last five, return to the court Sunday when they take on the Pacific Division leading Los Angeles Clippers.
