Snow, Ice Slow Travel Around US, Record High Temperatures on East Coast

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — While snow and ice bring travel headaches to states in the Midwest and the northeast, some cities on the East Coast could see record high temperatures on Sunday.
In Vermont and Maine, over 25,000 people woke up without electricity on Sunday after power lines were downed by heavy ice. Heavy snows were reported as far west as Kansas and as far south as Texas.
The footprint of the storm ranges from Texas to Maine, with the most severe storms ranging from Louisiana up through Ohio. Initial reports even said that three tornadoes were spotted in Arkansas.
Strong winds caused damage in 10 states, from the Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley.
Twelve states were under flood warnings, watches or advisories on Sunday with more heavy rain expected in the southeast U.S.
Despite the winter weather, several cities on the East Coast set record high temperatures on Saturday and may do so again on Sunday. Savannah, Ga., Baltimore, Atlantic City, N.J., New York and Washington, D.C., all saw record highs for the date on Saturday. Experts say Charlotte, N.C., New York, Washington, D.C., and Orlando could be in store for records on Sunday as well.
