(BOISE, ID) – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna wants to set aside $23 million to fund pay hikes for teachers in fiscal year 2015. Luna also wants another $4 million to finance a two percent raise for administrators and classified staff. This is in light of a recommendation from Gov. Butch Otter for additional no pay raises for public employees. Otters plan would put $80 million of leftover revenue in a rainy-day fund. Luna, who faces a primary challenge in May, says raises are necessary to keep more teachers in Idaho.
