Historic Silo to be Torn Down

(SUGAR CITY, ID) – A Sugar City landmark is biting the dust later this week. The 110-foot concrete grain silo will be demolished at 9 a.m. Saturday. The silo was built between 1906 and 1909, and remained in operation through the 1970s. The city council voted to tear down the silo in January because it posed several health and safety concerns. Officials will be cutting off access to a three-block radius around the building 15 minutes before the implosion takes place. The estimated cost of the demolition project is over $41,000.
