Former French President Sarkozy Detained for Questioning
Published at(PARIS) — Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was detained by police on Tuesday after he allegedly tried to influence judges that were investigating him.
On Monday, one of Sarkozy’s lawyers and two judges were taken into custody as part of the same inquiry. Police are looking into accusations that a judge was passing inside information to Sarkozy.
The former president presented himself at a police station for questioning and was not taken into custody at his home.
Sarkozy can be held for questioning for 24 hours, unless investigators apply for an extension to keep him up to 48 hours.
