Scott Pipher, 34, was charged Nov. 14, police said this week. Investigators in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, have been working on the case since Pipher placed the call March 25, and have also arrested the alleged prostitute, Sgt. Gerard Hamilton told ABC News.

“We did some follow ups … we have a team for special enforcement, and using the information  that was provided to us [by Pipher], we took a look, and were able to located the female via backpage.com,” Hamilton said of the classified ads website. “We were able to get to her.”

Krystal Harmon, 28, of Old Orchard Beach was arrested after an investigation by the Department’s Special Enforcement Team and charged with engaging in prostitution. Pipher contacted Harmon through backpage.com, police said.

When Pipher initially called the police to report that Harmon had left early, Hamilton said, police worked up a report and handed the case over to investigators, who took eight months to charge him. He said Pipher is also being investigated for other possible incidents of engaging prostitutes.

“We’re now looking into Pipher, at some issues with some escorts down in New Hampshire,” Hamilton said.

Pipher is scheduled to be arraigned in the Biddeford, Maine, District Court Jan. 30. Harmon is scheduled for arraignment in Old Orchard Beach next week.

ABC News has been unable to find contact information for Harmon, and calls placed to numbers listed for Pipher have not been returned. Hamilton said he did not know whether they have attorneys.
