IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls Police arrested 20‐year‐old Edgar Chavarria for felony battery on an officer, providing false information, resisting arrest and two warrants early Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Idaho Falls Police report officers responded to the Fairfield Inn at 1493 W. Broadway, around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a man passed out in the stairwell. Police recognized the man as Chavarria, who had a Bonneville County Felony Probation Violation Warrant and an Idaho Falls Police Vandalism Warrant, according to a police news release.

Chavarria woke up and initially provided a false name to police, but police confirmed he was Chavarria.

While being placed under arrest, Chavarria attempted to flee from police. In the course of trying to gain control of Chavarria, two police officers were struck in the head by Chavarria.

Officers were able to gain control of Chavarria after they tasered him.

The Idaho Falls man was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Chavarria is not being held on bond.
