REXBURG — A 49-year-old woman died Saturday night after she was hit by a car while walking her dog.

In a news release, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office says Nina Schick (Lindsey) of Thornton was hit by a 2003 Toyota Camry around 6:00 p.m. on 5200 South and 4300 West.

Detectives say the Camry was traveling east on 5200 South and Schick was walking east on the road.

Madison County deputies and EMS responded to the crash. Schick was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Nina was one of those special people that rarely ever spoke badly about anyone else, and almost always had a smile on her face,” Schick’s sister, Robin House, wrote on a Gofundme page established to help cover funeral expenses.

The dog was okay and returned to the family’s home.

Investigators haven’t said if charges will be filed.
