FARMINGTON — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper received minor injuries when he used his vehicle to stop a wrong-way driver in Davis County Monday night.

Troopers responded to a report of a wrong-way driver northbound on state Route 89 near Legacy Highway about 10:45 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol. KSL.com reports they located the vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes on the ramp of Legacy Highway to S.R. 89.

Trooper Jon Stanford slowed his vehicle and drove into the right side of the wrong-way car as it tried to pass him. That caused the wrong-way car to spin to a stop.

Stanford’s vehicle then struck the cement barrier. He was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital with a minor knee injury and later released, according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce.

Deputies arrested Brad Shay Blackner, 37, and booked him into the Davis County Jail for investigation of several things including driving under the influence.
