‘It’s sad’; neighbors react to double infant death

TWIN FALLS — A Twin Falls neighborhood is in mourning, after the death of two infants Friday afternoon.

Cheri Crummett is just one of the people on the street in shock after Friday’s events.

“Not knowing the circumstances around it, is kind of frightening, cause we have a lot of kids here,” Crummett continued “Finding out about this is scary. To think that we had something like this happen in our neighborhood.”

About 2 p.m. Friday, a woman called 911 about two infants not breathing.

“We heard the ambulance show up and we came outside and there was two ambulances, there were cop cars everywhere, the fire department was here.”

The two boys died at the scene, and word quickly spread about what happened.

Neighbor Paloma Carpenter said she found out from a neighbor.

“I figured out from my upstairs’ neighbor. Cause I came outside to go to the dance at my school and she was standing up there, and she told me what had happened,” Carpenter explained.

Until the autopsy, they can only guess the cause of death.

“There’s something about that, you’re not quite sure what happened, and you don’t want to speculate, cause you don’t want to bring bad to the people, that, maybe they didn’t have anything to do with it,” explained Crummett.

Carpenter says she’s feeling nervous knowing it happened next door.

“When it’s in other people’s neighborhoods, it’s not average, it doesn’t faze you as much. But when it’s next door, it’s kind of like scarier because this isn’t normally the sort of neighborhood that that happens in,” Carpenter said.

Crummett says the same thing.

“I don’t know, it’s sad. It’s sad to think that this could happen. I just. All we can do is try and keep our kids safe,” Crummett stated.
