IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage incident.

Kristoffer Jensen, 40, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he pulled a handgun on a female driver around 11 p.m. on Thursday, according to police reports.

Police reports don’t indicate what caused the confrontation, but show that a 35-year-old Idaho Falls woman was driving on Woodruff Avenue when Jensen cut her off and forced her to pull over on Parkwood Street.

Jensen then got out of his car and pounded on the driver’s side window of the woman’s car and yelled at her. Police say he then went back to his car, where he retrieved a 9mm Springfield XDm from behind the driver’s seat.

“(The woman) stated Kristoffer then made a motion that looked to her like he was racking a round into the chamber. (The woman) stated Kristoffer pointed the gun at her,” the report showed.

(The woman) was on the phone with dispatch during the incident. When police arrived and interviewed her, “she appeared to be very upset.”

“Her voice cracked a few times, and she began crying toward the end of her statement,” an investigator said in the report. “(The woman) stated that she was very afraid to have a gun pointed at her, and she thought she was going to die.”

When police found Jensen at his Idaho Falls home they conducted a search of his car. During the search police found a partially loaded magazine in the drivers side door along with a single 9mm round.

Jensen told police there was no gun in the car. Court records show police told him they had found the magazine, and he admitted he placed the handgun in the trash can. Police were then able to find the weapon.

In Jensen’s version of events, he was the one being chased.

“I asked Kristoffer what had happened, and he stated that the other vehicle had been following him south on Woodruff, and he had turned west onto Parkwood to get away,” according to a police report.

Jensen then told police he got out of his car and confronted Beyer. He admitted to police he had gotten his gun and held it at his side so “they” could see it. He initially told police the gun was unloaded, but when the magazine was brought up again, he admitted the gun was loaded and he had unloaded it after the incident.

Jensen told police that people in the other car had been “yelling at him and flipping him off,” according to documents.

He said he grabbed the gun because he was fearful and was worried the other car would run him over. He also said he did not rack a round into the chamber of the gun.

When police arrived (the woman) was the only person in the car.

Jensen has a history of run-ins with the police, and has been previously charged with driving without privileges, driving under the influence, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

(The woman) also has a long history of run-ins with police involving traffic incidents. In 2017, she was convicted for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and other traffic infractions after the car she was driving struck and killed a woman and paralyzed another while they were on bicycles. She has a significant number of other traffic infractions and misdemeanors on her record as well.
