IDAHO FALLS — Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who allegedly got in a altercation with his father and cut him with a large knife Friday morning.

Travis Mazurek, 36, of Idaho Falls was arrested for aggravated battery shortly after police were called to a home near Loma Circle and 65 South in Idaho falls around 9:15 a.m.

Deputies had been dealing with disturbances at the home over the last several days where Mazurek was showing strange and violent behavior, according to a Bonneville County Sheriff news release. When dispatch received the call this morning dispatchers advised officers Mazurek had been fighting with his parents.

“Information from the initial call was Travis and his father had a struggle over a shotgun and a large knife resulting in the father receiving a wound from the knife,” sheriff spokesman Bryan Lovell said in a news release.

Police say the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was sent to the home where they found Mazurek barricaded in a upper room of the home. Deputies were able to secure the rest of the home and occupants began to negotiate with Mazurek, who then gave up and was arrested without further incident.

Mazurek was booked in the Bonneville County Jail. The father was treated on scene for a minor cut and was not transported for medical care.
