ST. ANTHONY — Get ready for golden fries, shakes, and Black Angus burgers because Arctic Circle will soon have a new home in the Upper Valley.

“It’s our first fast food (in St. Anthony) so hopefully it will be well received,” Arctic Circle partner Blake Bauer told EastIdahoNews.com. “Got a lot of excitement.”

St. Anthony’s eateries are composed of local restaurants like The Fountain at Falls Drug, Big J’s, Chrissy’s Chicken, El Jaliciense and Fongs. There is also a Subway restaurant inside of a gas station.

The new Arctic Circle will be a stand-alone company store on Bridge Street with a drive-thru, seating area and play center.

Mayor Donald Powell says there were talks around town as to what could be coming to the old Maverik building and in September, the restaurant owners received their building permits to move forward.

“I think it’s going to be a draw to get people into town and anything that draws people into town is a good thing for the city,” Powell says. “I’m sure at first it will impact other businesses but I think once the newness wears off, everybody likes different things. I don’t think it’s really going to impact any business that long.”

Bauer thinks the new restaurant will help the St. Anthony economy and boost business for the surrounding stores. The spot is near U.S. Highway 20 and will be visible to drivers needing a bite to eat.

“I think it should be good because it’s going to allow an opportunity for a lot of young kids to have jobs,” Bauer says.

Owners hope to open the new Arctic Circle by March 1.

“Looking forward to helping the people in town have another choice, and pulling people off the freeway on their way to West Yellowstone or Island Park,” Bauer says.
