The following is a news release from the Office of the Attorney General.

BOISE — Attorney General Lawrence Wasden has announced an Ada County man was sentenced Tuesday for insurance fraud.

Armin Salkic, 28, of Meridian pleaded guilty in December.

Third District Court Judge Davis VanderVelde withheld judgment and placed Salkic on three years supervised probation, ordered 180 days of discretionary jail time, an additional 15 days of jail time, and 50 hours of community service. The judge also ordered the defendant to pay $3,479 in restitution to Esurance and $359 to the Idaho Department of Insurance.

An investigation revealed Salkic caused a multi-vehicle accident in November 2016. Soon after the crash, Salkic called Esurance and lowered his policy’s deductible from $2,500 to $500 in order to limit his out-of-pocket expense.

Deputy Attorney General Nicole Schafer in the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit prosecuted the case. The Idaho Department of Insurance investigated.
