The following is a news release from Melaleuca Inc.

Loyalty and longevity pay big dividends at Melaleuca. That’s what Melaleuca employees are saying after $2.2 million was handed out at a company meeting held online Wednesday. The bonus checks were presented by Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot to 170 employees who reached landmark anniversaries working for The Wellness Company in 2020.

Melaleuca’s unique Loyalty and Long-Term Contribution Bonus program rewarded 124 employees in Idaho and 46 employees in Tennessee this year. It pays $5,000 to all employees on a five-year anniversary, $10,000 at 10 years, $15,000 at 15 years, $20,000 net (which is a total payment of $33,000) at 20 years, $25,000 at 25 years and $30,000 at 30 years. This program is for all employees regardless of position, pay level, or status as full-time or part-time. An employee’s length of service is the only qualification.

“I think it’s great that we’re going through life together,” VanderSloot said to employees. “It’s important to reward the people who have built Melaleuca, and this bonus serves as a token of our appreciation for their years of dedicated service.”

Sixty-four employees received $5,000, 37 received $10,000, 36 received $15,000, 18 received $20,000, seven received $25,000, and eight employees received $30,000 bonus checks.

Over $30 million paid through this program

In total, The Wellness Company has paid $30,226,546 through the Loyalty and Long-Term Contribution Bonus program to employees since it began in 2007.

Debi Croft, Melaleuca’s print production manager, was one of eight employees who received a $30,000 check for her service to the company.

“This really is a dream come true,” said Croft. “Not only has Melaleuca taken extremely good care of me for three decades, but I’ve built a rewarding career here and had the chance to work with some of the best people in the world. I couldn’t ask for more from an employer.”

Retire as a millionaire

VanderSloot created the Loyalty and Long-Term Contribution Bonus program so every employee who spends their career with Melaleuca can have in excess of $1 million in the bank when they retire from Melaleuca.

An employee would only need to take advantage of the company’s 401(k) matching program, invest the longevity bonuses and achieve a modest rate of return on that investment.

“It’s our goal that Melaleuca employees will retire as millionaires,” VanderSloot said. “Even the janitors will retire as millionaires if they simply follow our program.”

Forbes names Melaleuca a great place to work

In September 2020, Forbes Magazine named Melaleuca one of America’s best companies to work for in its annual list of America’s Best Employers by State. The Forbes ranking was created after 80,000 anonymous surveys were completed by employees of large companies. Scores were tallied from a spectrum of categories, including work environment, compensation, benefits and perks.

Melaleuca’s Loyalty and Long-Term Contribution Bonus is just one of the many perks that Melaleuca offers. The Wellness Company also pays employees other incentives based on performance and productivity. Moreover, Melaleuca provides employees a strong benefits package that includes excellent medical insurance, tuition assistance, 401(k) with matching, free Melaleuca products, access to a company gym, and much more.

To keep up with the soaring demand for Melaleuca’s health and wellness products, the company has added 1,333 employees to its workforce since January 2020.
