IDAHO FALLS — Police arrested a man and woman after they allegedly ran from police Thursday night in Idaho Falls.

Around 11 p.m., an Idaho Falls Police Officer started following a Chevy minivan that pulled out of the Econolodge parking lot on Holmes Avenue. According to an affidavit of probable cause, the driver Isaac Joe, 21, and passenger Sarah Disney, 34, were later identified.

Police wrote in their report that it appeared Joe was intentionally avoiding having to drive by the officer. The Chevy speed away on Holmes and surrounding streets.

Police pursued and at one point, an officer clocked Joe driving 74 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to the probable cause. When officers were told by supervisors to call off the chase, they continued searching the area for the van.

A few minutes later, an officer spotted the van parked in the driveway of a home on the 2000 block of Davidson Drive. Disney was taken into custody as she tried walking away from the home.

The homeowner told officers he did not know Disney but she had knocked on the door. When the homeowner answered, Disney had the screen door already opened and tried to force her way inside. The homeowner told officers he shoved Disney out and shut the door.

As Dinsey left the house, she left five bags behind containing old cameras, camera parts, clothing, toiletries and more.

A further search of the bags uncovered drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, four debit cards with other names and ID cards belonging to other people.

With Disney in the back of a patrol car, she told officers where to find Joe. She said Joe had just picked her up from the motel so she could spend the night at another man’s house. She said she told Joe to slow down when he was driving fast in the neighborhood.

Disney said she tried to force her way into the man’s house on Davidson in an attempt to hide from police. She denied having drug paraphernalia but gave several reasons why she had debit and ID cards belonging to other people.

Police found Joe walking on Meadow Street. He declined to answer officers’ questions when taken into custody and asked for a lawyer.

Inside his van, police found more drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue.

Disney is charged with felony counts of possession of a financial card to commit fraud, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Joe is charged with felony fleeing and eluding and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Police also booked Joe on a warrant for failing to appear for court. In that 2017 case, Joe is alleged to have violated probation.

Both remain held in the Bonneville County Jail with preliminary hearings scheduled on separate dates in December.
