FORT HALL — At least three people have been hospitalized following two adjacent crashes on Interstate 15 near Fort Hall Wednesday morning.

Idaho State Police report the second crash occurred in the southbound lane at milepost 78, two miles south of the Fort Hall exit just after 10 a.m.

Scott Bezold, 37, of Rigby was traveling southbound in a 2002 Cadillac Escalade with a passenger, Melanie Bezold. McKenna Peterson, 27, of Blackfoot was also traveling southbound in a 2018 Kia Forte. Peterson hit the back of Bezold’s car as they were approaching the scene of the first crash, which happened earlier Wednesday.

Each driver veered off the road and rolled over. Peterson was cited for following too close. Responders had to cut everyone out of their vehicles before taking them by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. EastIdahoNews.com is waiting for an update on the condition of the victims.

Traffic was backed up for about two hours as ISP worked to clean up the wreckage. The flow of traffic has returned to normal, as of 1:20 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.

ISP did not release the details of the first crash. We will post updates if we get additional information.
