One person hospitalized after pickup truck smashes into swather
Published at | Updated atRIRIE — Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash involving farm equipment on U.S. Highway 26, southwest of Ririe.
The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday near 55th East.
Police reports show Tera Fortner, 41, of Rigby, was traveling eastbound on US-26 in a John Deer 4995 swather. Casey Wheeler, 36, of Rigby was also traveling eastbound in a 2019 GMC Canyon pickup truck behind the swather.
It’s not clear exactly what happened, but the GMC Canyon struck the back of the swather, which was pushed off the road and came to rest in a field.
Fornter was transported by ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Wheeler was not injured.
ISP would like to remind drivers the summer months are an active time for farm equipment to be on the roadways.
