Fire destroys mobile home often used by the homeless

FORT HALL — A fire destroyed a mobile home in Fort Hall Sunday morning.

The Fort Hall Fire Department arrived at the fire around 11 a.m. on West Agency Road west of Treaty Highway on the reservation, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes said in a news release.

When firefighters arrived, flames engulfed the single-wide home, and firefighters knocked down the flames within 20 minutes.

“The home has been known to be a location for the homeless on and off,” Fort Hall Fire Chief Erick King said in the release. “No injuries of people, animals or surrounding infrastructures were reported. It is believed the fire started in the chimney area, which caught the rest of the home on fire.”

Officials had no other information to release.
