SNOW DAY: School closures for Tuesday, Jan. 4

IDAHO FALLS — A winter storm swept through eastern Idaho Monday night resulting in significant snowfall and wind in some areas.

As a result of blizzard conditions the following school districts are closed Tuesday, Jan. 4:

  • Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25
  • Snake River School District 52
  • Blackfoot School District 55
  • Aberdeen School District 58
  • Cassia County School District 151
  • Ririe School District 252
  • Minidoka County School District 331
  • American Falls School District 381
  • Rockland School District 382
  • Teton School District 401
  • Bingham Academy District 485
  • Idaho Science and Technology Charter School in Blackfoot
  • Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center
  • Grace Lutheran School in Pocatello
  • Grace Lutheran High School in Pocatello
  • Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy in Fort Hall
  • Holy Spirit Catholic School in Pocatello
  • Gem Prep in Pocatello
  • Firth High School (due to a water line break)

Nearly all of eastern Idaho is under a winter weather advisory until 3 p.m. Tuesday. Total snow accumulations of a trace to three inches are expected in the valleys and up to six inches is predicted in the mountains. Winds gusting in excess of 40 mph at times will create widespread blowing and drifting snow, according to the National Weather Service.
