Mother and son arrested after argument

BONNEVILLE COUNTY — A mother and son were arrested Sunday after the mother allegedly threatened to get a gun to commit assault and her son hit a deputy in the face.
According to a news release by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Carolelynn Williams, 55, called deputies to her Bonneville County home. Deputies arrived and Williams said her daughter and son-in-law were there to remove their belongings but the situation escalated to a verbal argument.
Williams asked a deputy to stand by while her daughter finished loading up their belongings to keep the peace.
During this time, investigators say Williams continually tried to engage in a verbal argument with her daughter. As the deputy tried to keep both parties calm, Williams grabbed the deputy by the arm and pulled him away in an attempt to keep him from talking to her daughter.
Williams told the deputy that she had a gun and would use it against anyone who came on her property.
Thomas Williams, 30, Williams’ son, walked over and went toward the daughter, according to officials. Carolelynn was encouraging Thomas to get into a physical fight with her daughter, which caused the deputy to step in front of him.
As the deputy put his arm out and repeatedly told them to stop, Thomas tried to push past. As Thomas was being given repeated commands to stop, he hit the deputy in the face, the release said. Thomas was then handcuffed.
Deputies continued to keep Williams separated from her daughter. During this time, Williams got a phone call and told the person on the other line to bring their gun and come to the residence. Williams told the person on the phone, “I’m going to get my gun right now.”
According to the release, she started going toward the home and Williams was given commands to stop but she refused.
The deputy had to physically take Williams by the arm and take her to the ground to be handcuffed.
Thomas and Carolelynn Williams were both taken to the Bonneville County jail and booked for misdemeanor charges of battery upon certain personnel and criminal conspiracy to commit assault or battery.
The deputy was not injured.
