A nurse who helped a man who went blind following a crash is honored for Feel Good Friday

EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.

We recently received a phone call from a man named Kyle Thomas. He told us that he was involved in a serious car crash a few years ago that nearly killed him. He was pinned underneath a grain truck and the paramedics thought he was dead when they arrived on the scene.

Kyle was rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he had a stroke and he ended up blind. He spent weeks in recovery and says there was a nurse named Shannon who made a big difference to him during those dark days. She brought him McDonald’s, shoes (because he lost his in the crash) and was a positive influence in those difficult times.

Even though it’s been a few years, Kyle asked if we could thank Shannon. We learned she is a traveling nurse and is no longer at the hospital, but did the next best thing we could. Check out our surprise in the video player above!
